Enhancing Magento store security
Security advice from our 1st line support team:
Magento is one of the most popular eCommerce platforms, so it comes as no surprise that these stores are constantly subjected to attempted security attacks. Whilst many of the attacks prove unsuccessful, the most common attacks result in customer’s personal data being stolen including their payment card details.
Whilst Magento by default is already equipped with a range of built-in security related features, there is always more that can be done to make your Magento store bulletproof from security breaches and hackers. Here are a few recommendations from the Space 48 support team:
- Ensure all users with administrative privileges use strong passwords to log into the back end of the Magento store, and ensure each password is changed every 90 days. It may seem obvious, but this can often be overlooked. For tips on creating a strong password check this article out from Webroot.
- Magento regularly releases security patches, it’s important to make sure all of these are installed on your store to keep the system up to date. You can stay informed of new patches by subscribing to Magento security alerts.
- Stores should be scanned monthly to check for Malware using a tool such as MageReport, this can also be used to check if any patches are missing. MageReport.com is a highly-regarded service that is available at no additional cost.
- Lastly, you should make sure that other Magento Security Best Practices are in place, Magento Tech Resources will provide you with a very detailed overview.
These are just a few tips from our 1st line support team, that will definitely improve your chances of keeping your store safe online! Happy selling…
